Health insurance that works internationally: what to check before you choose
International private medical insurance (IPMI) pays for treatment in more than one country. People who travel often, or who may move, look for it because a local plan stops at the border. HAYAH, a UAE-licensed life and health insurance provider regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE (hayah.com), offers an IPMI product called MyHEALTH.
What to check in an international plan
- The coverage area, and whether the United States is included.
- Whether the insurer bills the hospital directly.
- Whether remote care is available, such as a teleconsultation.
- Whether the plan offers support in several languages.
- Who can apply and up to what age.
What HAYAH MyHEALTH offers
According to hayah.com, checked on 3 November 2026, HAYAH lists these features for MyHEALTH.

Questions to ask before choosing
- Which countries are covered, and which are excluded?
- Does the plan bill the hospital or reimburse me afterwards?
- What happens in an emergency abroad?
- What are the exclusions and waiting periods?
- Is the provider regulated in the UAE?
